Re: Prototypes

I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to have a thread talking about "the latest protos" as you put it when you're just posting about content found in a final game. It would have made more sense to title the thread "Prototype-related data findings" and describe it as "the la...

Re: Prototypes

This isn't a prototype, it's lost content hidden in the final release of a game. Doesn't match how you introduce the thread or title it.

Re: Protos found in Magazines (mostly 1993)

The mosquito looks exactly the same size as in the final to me. Any smaller and the proportion compared to Rayman's later sprite would look off. More stuff I posted at Assembler, the first preview of Final Fantasy 7 from Dengeki Playstation back in February of 1996. Neat stuff here. No, the frog on ...

Re: Protos found in Magazines (mostly 1993)

Beep's coverage of Sonic games was pretty bad compared to over here in the US. They didn't even first preview Sonic 3 until it was already released in the US! I know Sonic was always more popular over here in the West, but I'm surprised a prominent Sega magazine wouldn't even get any info until the ...

Re: Protos found in Magazines (mostly 1993)

I posted this on the TCRF forums, but this place deserves more attention, so here's a scan from the JP magazine Beep! Megadrive for a preview of Pulseman on MD when it used to be known as Spark. http://i.imgur.com/dsqIt6c.jpg Graphics for that first boss were found in the ROM by GoldS which you can ...

Re: Ecco II: Sentinels of the Universe (Ecco Month Part 1)

To just start things off... The Ancient City stage is one I've explored a bit and found it's possible to jump to either the very left or right of the cliffs near the protective field blocking the entrance and you can get to the other side. I once somehow got the front door into the main city open, b...

Still waiting to hear from Niels about an early Aladdin proto, but if there's one thing I've learned from this it's that I'm never ever again buying protos without proof of some sort that it's worth the money. It's too easy to want something and just buy it hoping it's different, and that's really j...

Nothing like that thankfully. The cart works on an actual console just fine. Seems a Retrode is just picky about dumping it. The ROM we got has no header info and missing over half the data apparently. We got a friend to whip up a working ROM using data from the retail product, but this is nowhere n...

Yeah, I already got a ROM but it's unfortunately a bad dump. We're trying to work out how to get a clean one that actually works. I had hoped the ROM was dumped previous to our collecting the funds, but alas...

Thanks everyone!

Added. Thanks!

Yeah I'm honestly not sure why the owner doesn't want to do the fundraiser himself, I guess he's just very busy and doesn't have time to keep up with all of this.

Any more is always welcome!

Well, if the cartridge had bitrot and no ROM could be extracted then of course all money would be given back. Naturally the $750 was what the owner proposed. If anyone just made up an amount and started a fundraiser then that'd probably not end well :P The cart should be functioning normally and as ...

Contra III: The Alien Wars prototype fundraiser

Hi everyone. So this is what I hope will be the start of many fundraisers this year. This prototype comes from the collection of Niels, a prominent collector who is willing to share the ROMs of his protos for the right price. Kinda the same deal drx had going with DreamTR back in the day. And just l...

With how much info is known of the disc(serial number, data size and clear screenshots), I take it someone has the disc but hasn't made it public? Any idea on the source of all that info?

I've bought this prototype now from DreamTR and am offering it at around the same price again. Anyone interested can look here:
