Re: Protos found in Magazines (mostly 1993)

I posted this on the TCRF forums, but this place deserves more attention, so here's a scan from the JP magazine Beep! Megadrive for a preview of Pulseman on MD when it used to be known as Spark.

Graphics for that first boss were found in the ROM by GoldS which you can see at his TCRF article. I've got all issues from 1994 for this magazine, so if anyone has any game titles to look for lemme know.

Hey, there's a "Volt" billboard in that city background. An even earlier name for Pulseman, perhaps?

Would be funny if that's the reason why one of the Ristar prototypes has the text "Ristar is not Volt!" in it.

I don't see any interesting 1994 games other than Sonic 3, S & K, Sonic Triple Trouble, so maybe you should snap pictures of them:

Beep's coverage of Sonic games was pretty bad compared to over here in the US. They didn't even first preview Sonic 3 until it was already released in the US! I know Sonic was always more popular over here in the West, but I'm surprised a prominent Sega magazine wouldn't even get any info until the whole development of a game starring the system's mascot is already over. No Sonic games got any coverage with any early shots in all the issues I've got. Maybe in earlier issues.

Anyway, here's a shot of an earlier Rayman for Jaguar showing signs of coming from the SNES version.

That misquito is really oversized then. It ain't so big when they redraw Rayman later.

The mosquito looks exactly the same size as in the final to me. Any smaller and the proportion compared to Rayman's later sprite would look off.

More stuff I posted at Assembler, the first preview of Final Fantasy 7 from Dengeki Playstation back in February of 1996. Neat stuff here. No, the frog on page 2 is not a lost playable character and is just from a magic spell :P

Protos found in Magazines mostly 1993

20 Oct 2019, 18:42

I have some KWA MP7 magazines that I want to bring back to MN from Hong Kong. I have brought PMAGs back without any problems, but didnt know if it was because these were made of polymer... Any advice on whether I should just bring the MP7 mags in my checked in luggage or if I should mail the mags to myself?
