DreamTR's prototypes (a big list)

09 Jul 2009, 08:15

DreamTR is a prototype collector who is kindly willing to dump his prototypes in return for a bit of cash in return for what he originally invested in them.

If you are interested in anything from the list, please post and we might get something going. Please only post if you are absolutely sure you are willing to go through with it and you have the money. Please understand that protos are hit and miss. You might get a real gem with unreleased bosses, levels, or whatever or you might get a final build. Some of the protos I got from him were amazing, some were not. And we will not take pictures of level 6, cavern 5 so please don't ask. If DreamTR was sure the protos had different content (and therefore, were more valuable), the prices would be much higher. Please understand that before you make a decision.

To answer some questions, he is a very trustworthy person. I have dealt with him on many many occasions, and he's a great, honest guy. He owns a lot of legit prototypes, and they are ALL legit.

To give you a ballpark, really crappy protos are around $100. Regular protos would be around $200. The more popular, the more expensive. Unreleased protos are much more expensive. His protos are a bit pricey, I know, but sometimes it's worth it.

Oh and one thing, you are free to forward this post to your friends, etc. But please do not pester anyone or harass some message board. You can link to the topic but I don't want you going around harassing people for donations, please. Thank you.

OMG

MYSTICAL NINJA 64 PROTO

How much does he want for that? Is it Goemon's Adventure (the side scroller game) or is it the original Mystical Ninja 64 Starring Goemon? The reason I ask is that the name given for the game on the list is wrong, and n64 prototypes don't come cheap, especially Japanese ones. So I guess you can say ~ it's a special item. It might not be possible to get a group of people to donate, so maybe for some of thes N64 prototypes - you could ask for some help with team CARROT? They seem to like releasing some nice N64 stuff. Those Glover prototypes look nice too.

This is a must have for me.

Also I noticed "Socks the Cat (unreleased)" on the list. I thought he wasn't interested in selling?

PS: Can you alphabetize the list? Holy crap.

Splendid list! I have to know, how much is the Rockman X3? Better yet, how much are all of the SNES Megaman games?

Thanks.

Okay, there's gotta be a better way than just everyone asking how much. Does he have a pricing structure maybe based on systems, then subcategories for each system such as unreleased, etc....

If not, then how much for Rockman X3?

Rockman World
Megaman 2

GameBoy Advance

You're going to release the roms though, right? :P

Also drx - I think me and monokoma (administrator/creator of from UNSEEN64) are going to go along with Mystical Ninja 64. But we just need a tiny bit of info like - what's written on the cart specifically, how much, etc. And while you're asking him, if stuff is bought - can you cross it out from your gigantic list (if and when you alphabetize it first *runs*)? There are a couple things on that list that look like they've been dumped/released already. :\

Also I've been thinking about it, and speaking of cart. Would it be too much to ask for the prototypes that are purchased for dumping that we could get a picture of the cart for each one once it's purchased? That would be great - some carts could be pretty neat (ala your sonic 2 na proto cart :P).

It might be too late, but I'd also be extremely interested in any one the Mega Man games! (except the GBA one) If Shadowman is willing to share a few or can't get them all, can i get on the waiting list please??

Let me know!

To clarify: I will only assist in getting the physical data, not carts. I will not be a proxy for someone buying prototypes, for numerous reasons (like being burned before a few times).

Short version: I will not help you buy prototypes. This is just for dumps.

Well, I told you they were pricey, and Megaman is kinda on the pricier side (Megaman is a popular franchise) so here goes:

Mega Man 2 -$850
Mega Man 3 -$700
Mega Man 4 -$750
Mega Man 5 -$750

GameBoy
Rockman World -$750
Megaman 2 -$750

GameBoy Advance
Mega Man Battle Network 2 (debug) -$400

GameGear
Mega Man -$750

SNES
Rockman X3 sample -$1000
Mega Man 7 -$750
Mega Man Soccer (no gameplay)-$250

---

I know for a fact that Rockman world is early and is an English Japanese hybrid and Rockman X3 has a lot of differences. No idea on any other protos.

Let me know how much you can spare on each proto and we'll see if we can work something out.

Eh, good enough I guess. The 2nd N64 game for the Goemon franchise didn't really have the name Mystical Ninja anywhere if I recall.

Still though, after seeing the price on those Megaman games (most are NES) - I cry to think about the price of Mystical Ninja 64. :\

It might not be that bad though, I remember when we were borrowing some of his games for dumping we asked how much it would be just to borrow the Superman 64 prototype (since you know, 100% 'different') - I think it was 1k/1.5k. To be honest, that's actually not that bad - of course, it was a bad game. But Mystical Ninja 64 had its share of being a bad game too, it's just better. :P

It seems like a lot of people are into those Earthworm Jim prototypes - myself included. Socks the Cat's another big one I'm surprised is up there. Any price given to those yet? If Mystical Ninja turns out to be a lost cause, I guess I'll go for putting some cash to EWJ. My only beef with EWJ is that I know that the "prototypes" we do have of both games aren't that great, and these could be the same ones. Unless I'm wrong, which I hope I am.

I have $250 by the way, planning on getting more sometime during next week. I don't expect to completely pay off a single prototype with the money I have now, but it's a nice chunk of cash to start out some of these, I hope. :)

For the Mystical Ninja game, $300 for the dump, about $200 for N64 dumping tools (or just send me a N64 dumper, lol) and around $50 for shipping costs etc.

Sorry that I have to start charging for shipping back, but the costs are kinda high (around $30 every time I ship something back, and for many carts the costs just stack up), and I just can't justify paying for that :P

The upside is that the more dumps you buy, the less the shipping costs.

btw: shadowman is not going to participate in the mega man dump.

Wow, that's pretty reasonable. I know someone with the tools to dump the game that wouldn't mind probably lending it (he doesn't even dump games anymore, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind lending - he lives in Norway, I hope that's not bad), so that could knock down the cost for the tools. It's even within a probable budget (I don't even have to spend my $250, since monokoma said he'll give in some dough). I think we can do this.

Still though, $300. :\ What the hell. I thought it would go for at least a grand.

That's cool, right?

Also if you don't mind, if you could find some N64 dumping tools that you could give me permanently, that would be ideal. You know, for future N64 protos I might come across. If it can't be done, then that's really fine, but just saying.

btw: it would be best if you could invite the people that want to donate here, I don't visit all the forums in existence, you know :P It would be better, since I can then answer questions and misconceptions on the spot...

Actually I just remembered something, there's a easy(?) yet cheaper way of dumping N64 carts. You can use a Gameshark 3.3's parallel port (it's on the back of the cartridge itself), plus some really basic software, to dump the game. They should be really common these days (friend of mine who wrote a guide about it only payed $8 bucks) on ebay. Maybe you can look into this first before I do something as drastic as asking someone to surrender their V64jr. :P

You can take a look at my friend's guide here:

http://ts.death.angel.googlepages.com/gamesharkstuff

I personally have never done it, but my friend has. Not sure if they work on prototypes, but I'll ask him when I see him.

Sorry for my ignorance, please humor me, i'm sort of new to all of this. I thought you were brokering sales of the actual prototypes, but it sounds like you're offering to sell copies of the data off of them for people, but if that's the case, then why would some of it be "already gone" and why are the prices upwards of $1k?
