* Platform: Initially released for Linux, but can be compiled for other platforms.

Development Story:

Tux on the Run was a precursor to the well-known open-source game SuperTux. This early version showcases the game's humble beginnings and provides an interesting look at how the game evolved over time. The earliest known file dates back to May 1999, indicating that the game's development started at least during the summer of that year.

Inspirations:

The penguin character design in Tux on the Run bears a striking resemblance to the penguin character in IceBlox, a 1996 open-source puzzle game. This similarity suggests that the developers of Tux on the Run may have been inspired by IceBlox. (and from IceBlox, it seemed to have been inspired by Pengo from 1982, so in all actuality, if it wasn't for Pengo from 1982, the well known open-sourced platformer SuperTux would never have been made. Pretty interesting to think about!)
These early ALPHA photos were found on the Internet Archive, and are being put here as a preservation to the development of Bud Redhead - The Time Chase. At this time, around April 6, 2001, the game was called Project "B". It says it is a "working title", and by obvious assumption, the "B" in Project "B" must stand for Project Bud.
==Notes==
In the Forest level, the sky is completely black, with zero background. The level itself looks completely different in terms of geography too.

Egypt looks different as well, and it looks like a... piece of cheese collectable was in the game?

The bats in the Castle level are brown in this early-mid alpha. In the Castle windows, the sky is completely black.

The Spaceship level seems to have another set of coin collectables, which look dark brown.
* Losing health, Bud says "oh no!" in a high pitch voice, instead of the classic "ouch!".
* There is a constant FPS meter that cannot be turned off in this test version.
* The falling rock is different than the final release.
* When climbing a vine, Bud is silent - no grunt sound.
==Notes==

A prototype of Grand Theft Auto for the PlayStation.
==Notes==
* Title screen does not play music.
* Music constantly plays on foot, even when trying to switch it off.
* Some music plays in vehicles that does not in the original release.
* The files seem to be the same as the original US release, but the differences are there.
* Miscellaneous Notes:
** Game is emulatable: Yes (as of June 8, 2024).
** Game contains dongle protection: No.
A prototype of '''Bud Redhead: The Time Chase''' for the PC.

This is the only released test version of "Bud Redhead: The Time Chase" from November 30th, 2002. This was uploaded on gamedev.net on December 1st, 2002 by Bojan Urosevic of Space Ewe Software for game testing.
==Notes==
* The loading screen background color is black, instead of blue in the final release.
* The main menu is different than the final release.
* The main menu is silent - no music plays.
* The game's name title is copper/silver, rather than gold/purple/red.
* Bud has a slightly darker skin complexion.
* Bud has a slightly different face.
* Bud is standing with crossed arms and smile; in final, he is with Rachel.
* Rachel is not present in the title screen, unlike the final release.
* The title screen has a lower-textured crescent moon, rather than a full moon.
* Credit screen states that it is a "test version".
* Register screen says "it is only a test version" and to "check back from time to time" for updates.
