An early demo of '''Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2''' for the '''Sony PlayStation'''.

==Background==
On May 15, 2000 this demo was initially featured on the PlayStation Underground: Jampack Summer 2000 (SCUS-94587) and Official PlayStation Magazine 34 (SCUS-94593) demo disc in the US and simultaneously debuted on the June issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (Euro Demo 59 | SCED-02633) in Europe and Australia, the latter also initially receiving the demo as a standalone disc (SLED-02879).

This demo was notable because it featured instructions to enter the "[https://www.gamespot.com/articles/20000-in-prizes-in-tony-hawk-2-contest/1100-2570092/ Big Score Competition".] From May 15 until July 28, players could submit their high score online to Activision's website along with a passcode that would spawn in the post-run menu if they managed to end the run with a score above 25.000. Twelve winners (eight from the US and one each from the UK, France, Germany and Australia) were flown out to San Francisco to the Summer X-Games [https://www.ign.com/articles/2000/08/29/sean-fontenot-cashes-in-on-tony-hawk to meet Tony hawk and compete for cash prizes totaling $25,000.]

There are several different versions of this demo. Besides the obvious NTSC/PAL builds, some have French and German translations of the contest instructions as well as versions without any mention of the competition. All demos match in every other aspect. Each region received a standalone copy of the game. Since Australia got theirs first, the other regions followed suit with post-competition versions respectively. According to the [http://web.archive.org/web/20000621100920/http://www.activision.com/games/th2/contest.asp contest rules] on Activision's website, residents in Germany were able to request a free copy of the demo from the publisher's local division to be sent to them. If indeed this was also a standalone copy is currently unknown, as is any other information on that disc.

Available for download here are the three currently known standalone versions of this demo:
|SLUS-90086
Although the build dates differ, all versions have been sourced from the same point in development. Modification dates of this demo's files featured on magazine discs are untrustworthy since they've always been seemingly overwritten with the disc creation date. The earliest build date of this demo found is the PAL variant built on March 29. Some files on the NTSC standalone disc indicate the actual point in development being anywhere between the 9th and 29th of March 2000.

==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Tony_Hawk%27s_Pro_Skater_2_(PlayStation)/Competition_Demo}}

*The Neversoft intro video matches the one used in ''Tony Hawk's Pro Skater'' (1999).
*An earlier version of the game logo is used.
*2 Player is called Multiplayer on the main menu.
**Although only Trick Attack is selectable, holding down '''R1''' while selecting a course in the level select, loads into Graffiti mode.
*The manual stat is called Invert.
*The extra menu in the skater selection, that gives the player the option to pick a style/edit the skater's appearance or tricks, stats or visit the Skateshop is absent from this demo.
**Also, none of the above mentioned features have been implemented at this point.
*The level select background art uses a red color tone, as opposed to the blue one in the final.
*Also, the level order is different and seems to somewhat match the order the levels were developed in.
*The Hangar was located in Tadzhikistan, rather than Mullet Falls MT.
*Career mode, aside from a few cosmetic changes in the menus, seemingly has not undergone any work yet and is unchanged from the previous game.
**The cash amount and medals obtained shown in the player and level select menu are dummy numbers.
**Since Marseille occupies the same level ID slot that Warehouse did in the first game, it is actually possible to obtain the High Score and Pro Score tapes in that mode.
*Gaps can not be placed in the Park Editor.
*The secret area in Marseille is locked off with a fence and a sign that reads "Work in Progress". However, the player can collect five 500-point pick-ups. Being a leftover of the previous game, this would be the last appearance of these objects, as they would be replaced by cash pick-ups some time before the [[Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (May 9, 2000 prototype)|E3 demo]].
**There are invisible rails sitting parallel on each side of that fence, which, when correctly grinded on, can clip the player through the fence or even behind the cave area if the player keeps grinding. However, landing in that void or jumping into the hole traps the skater in an endless mid-air animation. Without an option to land the combo, the game soft locks as soon as the timer runs out. Check the "Toggle HUD" notes in the cheat code section below to find out what to do should this occur.
*The trick multiplier locks at 19. This cap is in place because going over 20 will glitch out and crash the game on hardware.
*Big Drop has not been implemented at this stage.
*All numbers and symbols in the trick string are yellow. Any numbers that are part of a gap name will appear green.
*While weak trick modifiers are also present in the final game, in this demo any such trick is also labeled this way e.g. Weak Tail, Weak Fish, etc.
*This demo features two songs, edited down to two minutes: "Heavy Metal Winner" by Consumed and "Cyclone" by Dub Pistols.

=== Accessing locked options ===
Due to this build being a demo, it is restricted in it's functionalities. However, with a bit of memory editing, the other game modes and options can be accessed as well.

Make sure you get to the level select screen in Single Session before changing any of the following values (except for the Park Editor ones) to avoid a game crash. Note that the following information is written in regard to the NTSC-U standalone build (SLUS-90086).

===Cheat codes===
While input detection is disabled in this demo, they can be activated by locating them in the cheat code array. At this point in development, the codes are THPS1 leftovers. Some are working, some are not.

'''1''' activates and '''0''' deactivates the functions. The following codes were written for the '''NTSC-U standalone build'''.
|Having the HUD disabled can soft lock the game if either the clock runs out on you in a timed mode or if you end the run before landing a combo with a relatively big score, since that would normally make you wait until the score has been transferred from the trick string to the total amount. An early demo of '''Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2''' for the '''Sony PlayStation'''.

==Background==

==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Tony_Hawk%27s_Pro_Skater_2_(PlayStation)/Competition_Demo}}

=== Accessing locked options ===

===Cheat codes===

'''''Prime Selection Vol. 1 (プライムセレクションＶｏｌ．１)''''' is an obscure demo disc for the Sega Saturn, released exclusively in Japan. It is seemingly a somewhat little known release, and as such is difficult to come by.

The disc contains 5 video previews for Saturn games and a single level playable demo of the first level of ''Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Daibouken Gekan'' (Clockwork Knight 2).

The demo of ''Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Daibouken Gekan'' has a burn/compile date of 20 days prior to that of the Japanese retail release of the game, and as such there are a few object/enemy differences seen within the demo, among other small differences.

The exact release date of this CD is not known apart from it's year, but file dates on the CD give us a clue. The file burn dates are all "1995.06.15 at 07:48 AM", so it was probably very soon after that date.

This would make sense, as the front cover/manual advertises Clockwork Knight 2's Japanese release date (1995.07.28), so assuming it was released around a month prior to this would put it about there. Sadly, as I have no information on how this disc was released or distributed, I can't give an exact date, but late June or VERY early July 1995 seems about right.
==Notes==
<big>'''''Clockwork Knight 2 Demo Differences'''''</big>
===Title Screen===
* Copyright date text different, and has a black outline, matching other previously discovered pre-release footage of the game.
* "Options" menu is unselectable.

===Kid's Room 1 - Main Path===
* No character support message shown.
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* "Katchin' " enemies have Green pencils and not Red.
* Egg gives a single coin instead of a bronze key.
* "Pierron" enemies are in a formation of only 3 rather than 5, and are spaced out much further, making the 1-UP bonus via the egg impossible to do.
* Another "Perrion" is hiding in the background and jumps out at you.
* Just before the pit of death after the first turn of the level, there is a "Katchin' " enemy. Very easy to fall onto from above.
* After using the wind-up stairs to walk on the climbing frame, an extra "Katchin' " enemy is placed above the first "Tick" enemy, right before the floating platforms you can jump over to.
* Some of the "Katchin' " enemies are closer to the edge than in the final,making getting hit easier.
* There is an additional "Tick" enemy on the final yellow bar of the climbing frame.
* Jumping off of the climbing frame there are only 4 pocket watches at first, but then rest on the way down are the same.
* After the wind-up stairs, there is usually an egg with a bronze key, but this has been replaced with a "Katchin' " enemy.
* After the first wind up platforms with the Invincibility hidden in the egg, there are usually a row of 5 "Pierron", but in this version there are only 3, making the 1-UP bonus via the tree impossible to do.
* The "Katchin' " enemy underneath the second set of wind up platforms does not instantly die when the platforms are wound, but does die when the platforms fall back inwards.
* The egg underneath the second set of wind up platforms gives you a bronze key instead of a silver key.
* After using the second set of wind-up stairs to walk on the second climbing frame, "Katchin' " enemies are noticed to be closer to the edge again, making getting hit easier.
* "Tick" enemy on second yellow bar of climbing frame.
* "Tick" enemy on third yellow bar of climbing frame.
* On the first jump to the left, there are usually 5 pocket watches and 1 coin. There is an additional pocket watch in this version.
* After the wind-up stairs, there is a "Pierron"

===Kid's Room 1 - Lower Path===
* Secret route to room with pencils on the left hand side not accessible.
* Extra "Katchin' " after the one by the bottomless pit when travelling rightward.
* Egg towards the right hand end of lower path usually has Gold Key inside, but it is Silver in this version.

=== Kid's Room 1 - Alernate Path (Via box on floating platforms)===
* "Katchin' " enemies have Green pencils and not Red.
* "Pierron" closer to doorway making it easier to accidentally get hit.
* Extra "Katchin' " enemy on top of box to leave the area.
* Hidden path leading to Le Bon race usually has 5 coins to collect.This remains the same, but a 1-UP is placed at the end of the path.
* Le Bon race not accessible.

===Kid's Room 2 - Demo Screen===
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* Complete lack of "Heatman" enemies.
* 2 "Katchin' " in place of first "Heatman" enemy.
* No playing card.
* First and second "Katchin' "' at the falling toy section closer to the left than usual.
* Graphical glitching as the player turns towards the camera after falling toy section.

|file=Clockwork Knight (US Mar 28, 1995 prototype).rar
}}
A final localization prototype disc of the US build of Clockwork Knight for the Sega Saturn. Data track of the disc matches the final version, CDDA Tracks don't.

It was dumped on October 31, 2024, and was then publicly released on December 9th, 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Clockwork Knight’s first release in Japan.
==Notes==
* The build was burned to a Sega Saturn branded CD-R (Common at the time for proto builds), with “CK 3.28” written on the CD, and “CK #7 3.28” written on the spine of the CD case. Nothing was written on the front/inner sleeve. The date of this build appears to be 1995.03.28 (Based on the file dates and the game header), which matches the build date of the final US retail build (also 1995.03.28). This sadly appears to be a completed localisation of the game, bar a few file hash differences in for the CDDA files. This is of course a bit disappointing, but that is the luck of the draw when it comes to Prototypes, especially localization prototypes. I still believe these discs are worth dumping and preserving.

* As noted in the summary, this prototype has been dumped/released in time for the 30th Anniversary of the initial Japanese release of the first Clockwork Knight game (1994.12.09).

* This Prototype build was bought by Tongara in late 2024 from user “Miyazaki’s Slave” on NeoGAF Forums, who originally bought it along with a Playstation Vita/Misc Game Bundle"<ref>[https://www.neogaf.com/threads/playstation-vita-collection-big-lot.1669271/ "Playstation Vita Collection Big Lot"], ''Page where the prototype was originally sold. [https://archive.is/b8bOJ (archive}]''</ref> from another user called “The Pleasure” who has previously made a listing for this Prototype in the "For Sale" area on the same forum in 2021<ref>[https://www.neogaf.com/threads/sega-saturn-development-cdr-clockwork-knights-beta-pre-launch-us-saturn.1622591/ "Sega Saturn Development CDR Clockwork Knights Beta Pre Launch US Saturn"], ''Page where the prototype was originally listed in 2021. [https://archive.is/Chfc8 (archive}]''</ref>.

* “The Pleasure” has told Tongara over PM that he originally bought this dev disc back around the year 2019 at a Flea Market around an hour and a half from San Francisco. The seller had 4 other Saturn dev discs (one of which was apparently Tomb Raider), and the other three were unidentifiable just by looking at them. “The Pleasure” bought just the CK 3.28 disc, as that is all they had enough money for at the time. Sadly, the seller never returned to the Flea Market after that day, so there was never another chance to pick up/potentially identify any other Saturn dev discs, which is a real shame.
** It is possible that the seller at the Flea Market is the same original owner/seller of the "Clockwork Knight 2 (Aug 30, 1995 prototype)"<ref>[https://hiddenpalace.org/Clockwork_Knight_2_(Aug_30,_1995_prototype) "Clockwork Knight 2 (Aug 30, 1995 prototype)"], ''(Hidden Palace Prototype Page)''</ref> who sold that prototype to the private eBay seller Tongara bought it from back in 2017. It was noted at that time that the original owner was a “gentleman in Santa Cruz, Californa, who used to be a developer”, and the seller also bought another unidentifiable disc from the same person. This is of course just speculation!
==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece. I owe you more than one!

* Another big thank you goes to the Sega Saturn hacking master, and someone I personally consider a friend at this point, “Bo” (AKA @memory_fallen) for looking into this build/comparing files. Your kindness/help is always appreciated!

* And a final thank you goes to “Miyazaki’s Slave” for selling me the Prototype in the first place, and also to “The Pleasure” for providing some historcial information about the source of the proto and for being the original seller!
A prototype of the unreleased LEGO Super Soccer Adventure for the PlayStation 2.

==Notes==

*To run the game, you'll need to patch the BIN file with the PPF-O-Matic patch listed above made by krHACKen. The original unpatched BIN file will not boot on real hardware or PCSX2 without it, except for the Play! PS2 Emulator.

===General Notes===
*This is the most polished build for the PS2 out of the other 2 builds released.
*This build has a slightly broken Load/Save function for the memory card upon bootup.
*The title screen music is Eat My Goal by Collapsed Lung.
*Only 4 levels are accessible through the title screen.
**World: 2 Level: 1 - The Wild West Town
**World: 2 Level: 2 - The Runaway Train
**World: 4 Level: 2 - Mini Game 1
**World: 4 Level: 4 - Mini Game 2
*The main protagonist of the game; Striker is shown on the title screen playing with the soccer ball in front of a western background.
**Selecting a level will make Striker kick the ball and run off-screen showing the controls for the game as the soccer ball bounces around while the game loads.
*Pressing '''CIRCLE''' on the title screen shows the "Developed by Blitz Games" screen.
*Pressing '''SELECT''' opens up a debug menu.
**You're able to Load/Save the game here with the memory card. It'll also show up in the PS2 Browser as Corrupted Data.
**There's a texture viewer which includes a few unused graphics and the names of the characters.
**Some options in the debug menu will cause the game to crash.

===Gameplay Notes===
*This game has an announcer named Motty that shows up on the bottom right side of the screen and commentates on whatever goes on.
*The Wild West Town & The Runaway Train are the only levels in this build with animated cutscenes complete with audio.
**Unique to this build are cutscenes for kicking open the entry door to the town with the ball, entering the Saloon, rescuing your other teammate and opening the door to the barn, getting on the train and stopping the runaway train.
**Every cutscene has missing shadows.
*Signs are placed around The Wild West Town which provides some tips for the controls.
*There are hidden jerseys and shorts that you can find and collect in The Wild West Town.
**You can even wear them by going into the Kit Selection Screen option through the pause menu.
*Some slightly buggy collision.

===Controls===
*The '''D-PAD''' or the '''Left Analog Stick''' moves Striker.
*The '''Right Analog Stick''' zooms and rotates the camera.
*'''START''' pauses the game.
Moveset:
*'''TRIANGLE''' flicks the ball up.
*'''CIRCLE''' is used for jumping and doing a header with the ball.
*'''X''' is used for slide tackling, shooting the ball and volleying.
*'''SQUARE''' does a lob, an overhead kick and a jab tackle.
*'''L1/R1''' makes Striker feint and confuse enemies trying to get the ball.
*'''L3''' teleports the ball back to you.
*'''R3''' rotates the camera 180°.

===Miscellaneous Notes===
*Game is emulatable (in PCSX2): Yes (with patch) (As of March 3, 2024).
*Game contains dongle protection: No.

|file=Clockwork Knight 2 (US Aug 30, 1995 prototype).rar
}}
A late localization prototype of the US version of Clockwork Knight 2 for the Sega Saturn. While this version would later go on to be used for the final PAL version of the game, the final US version would be released later and be instead based on the code for the Japanese exclusive title "Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Fukubukuro", making this version very different to the final US product.
==Notes==
This prototype was bought from a private seller on eBay in late 2017. The seller said they bought it from a "gentleman in Santa Cruz, Californa, who used to be a developer", along with a bunch of other games, including another Saturn production CD-R (No idea what that may be).

The date of this build appears to be 1995.08.30 (Based on the file dates), which would make this build just over 1 month newer than JP release (1995.07.28), just under 2 months before the final PAL version release (1995.10.27) and 5/6 months before the final US version release (1996.01/02).

Just to be clear, this is not simply a conversion of the later dated PAL version, as mentioned above, the file creation dates for this builds burn are 1995.08.30, where as the final PAL version's files have a creation date of 1995.09.08, making this build around 10 days earlier.

This seems to be a 95-98% copy (If not 99-100%), and is possibly the version shown in several Saturn VHS promo tapes around the time.

The game was burned to a blank Sega Saturn branded CD-R (Common at the time for proto builds), and has the following text written on the CD: JM CK2 #3 8.30

An interesting thing to note is, as this was the same version that was later used for the PAL release, it actually contains a "credits" screen after defeating the final boss and watching the ending FMV, unlike the US version of the title, which simple brings you back to the title screen after counting the cards you collected in the game (Which is the same case for Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Fukubukuro). It also includes the "Crazy TV" boss fight at the start of the game, as is the case with the Japanese and PAL versions of Clockwork Knight 2.

==Screenshots==
Above mentioned "Crazy TV" mini-boss that is part of this build as standard, but is not present in the final build of the US version of the game outside of a cheat code to unlock an alternate character "Ginger":
</gallery>

==Videos==
Above mentioned "Credits" screen not present in the final version of the US version of the game:
