A prototype of Alien Resurrection from October 19, 1998.
==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Alien_Resurrection/October_19,_1998}}
* Title screen differs from final.
** No background image or build date, this build simply just says "Press Start". An E3 screen loads in the VRAM, but is never displayed.
* This prototype uses a third person view, very similar to Tomb Raider. Prototypes past the December 1998 build use a 3/4 top down third person view instead.
* The HUD differs from final, and differs from later 1998 builds too. The top right where the weapon displayed is incorrect here, while it is corrected in later builds.
* Only levels 7 and 8 are playable. Level 6 does load, but you're placed too far from the level to play it.
* Controls differ from final, they are as follows:
**Triangle - Jump
**X - Shoot
**Circle - Shoot backwards
**L1 - Switch between running and walking.
**L2 - Locks player in spot to spin freely.
**R2 - Locks camera at an angle.
* Level 8 is a swimming test level. Pressing L2 and R2 will activate the swimming mode.
A prototype of Croc 2 for the PlayStation.

==Differences (from final)==
'''Game:'''

*'''OmniPlay''' is referred to as "Share Play" in this beta's Pause Menu
*The '''credits''' at the game-end go-by way-less-fast in the beta than in the final
*In the boat and kart '''racing stages''', and the '''snowball-rolling''' '''stage''', after you collect the final coloured-crystal of those stages you instantly just get the Golden Gobbo in this beta; whereas in the final, the statue will appear near the finish-line (or on the final path, in the snowball stage) in the final
*The '''Golden Gobbo icons''', which, in the final, float near the entrance to each stage after you have got the ''Golden Gobbo Statue'' on that stage, are not present in this beta; you'll have to remember which stages you've managed to do it for!

'''Levels:'''

*'''Swap Meet Pete's General Store:''' if you press LEFT while on the Heart Container, or RIGHT while on the Clockwork Gobbo, Croc will rotate and the door behind you becomes selected. When all dialog is finished, you can press X to exit. However, pressing TRIANGLE while no dialog is active also instantly exists, just like in the final. The door is removed in the final: pressing LEFT or RIGHT doesn't loop around.
*'''Find 3 Lost Treasure Chests:''' in the final, this is titled "Find 5 Lost Treasure Chests". Despite the loading-screen in this beta asking for 3, there is actually 5 chests in the stage itself, just like in the final.
*'''Kaboom! It's Roger Red Ant:''' in the section where you have to stomp the four timer-switches, the Gobbo you need to rescue is on top of a giant TNT (bomb icon) crate, like you see later in the stage; in the final, it's on top of one of the smaller bomb crates, and is tied to one of the small, round wooden casks
*'''Find the Wheels in the Mine:''' in this beta, it's possible to get 101 of 100 crystals in this stage.
*'''Hang Glider Valley:''' unlike in the final, Croc has a smoke-effect trailing behind him in the beta while gliding; similar to the one that emits from the back of the 'plane in the "Dante's Peak" boss stage
*'''Caveman Tribe - Secret Mine:''' (1) near the start of the stage, the track loops right and there is a crystal you quickly have to press RIGHT to collect before pressing LEFT again to avoid falling off the broken track. Each time you die, this one crystal returns. (2) It is not possible to collect all crystals in this stage, as at-least a few of them are misplaced on the tracks and Croc will not collect them while riding over them. (3) One section of track leads into a room containing a heart; if you run-around between the end-of-the-track and the bone-styled buffer, it's possible to fall through the floor.
*'''Save 25 Gobbo babies!''' (1) while the loading-screen refers to 25, the stage itself, just as in the final, contains 30 babies. (2) In the large, square area, where you find floating wooden-platforms and the yellow gem, the beta features some "two-teir trees" you can use to reach the platforms; in the final, these are all removed and the only way up is to use the circular building in the top right-hand corner via the ledge above the nearest doorway. (3) The babies will cry a lot easier in the beta compared to the final -- for example, in the beta, if a baby comes out of a vase, Croc must catch it as it falls. However in the final, the baby can land on the floor, as long as Croc is very near to where they fall. (4) In the final version, all of the vases break when Croc simply runs towards them; in the beta, you have to tail-attack them. (5) Some of the babies' locations are different in the final, such as there being no baby hidden on-top-of one of the small bridges you run under. (6) In the final, there is a crystal placed on top of a ledge that you can only reach by doing a triple-jump (X three times) from a nearby locked cage -- meaning if you have the gold-key in your inventory, this cage will vanish, leaving it unobtainable. In the beta, no crystal appears atop this ledge.
*'''Climb the Waterfall:''' the second time you cross the waterfall (the first time where there are no stepping-stones), there is a tree and a snake in this beta. The snake's tail is too far-out to grab, however, so it seems this was placed as a trap, to make Croc fall over the edge. This was likely removed in the final as testers were thinking this should be the only way to cross the falls, whereas you actually just repeatedly keep jumping through it, same as in the final
*'''Goo Man Chu's Tower:''' in the final room, where Croc meets ''Goo Man Chu'', the camera-angle in this beta is an overhead, pointing-down one, so you cannot clearly see ''Goo Man Chu''! In the final, the camera is in a much-lower position

'''Dialog:'''

*'''Venus Fly Von-Trappe:''' the Gobbo standing to the right of the door to this stage says "I keep hearing strange noises" and then nothing more. In the final, this Gobbo says "Mmm... Gobbo hear strange noises coming from forest..."
*'''Swap Mete Pete (before Inca Village):''' after completing all stages in ''Caveman Village'' you enter Swap Mete Pete's store to advance to the next one. In this beta, he says "Well Croc, it seems that", then cuts off, and starts instead telling you the price of the middle Gummi, just like if you'd entered the shop normally. Once he has finished (or if you skip this dialog) you will still advance to the final village, as expected.
*'''Capitalisation:''' there are ''many'' instances where dialog or load-screens contains words either capitalised or not compared to the final. For example, in this beta, whenever you speak to a Gobbo after completing the stage they stand next-to they will usually say "Thank You Croc" and Croc will reply "No Problem.", compared to "Thank you, Croc" and "No problem!" in the final.

'''Sound-effects:'''

*The sound played when picking up a crystal often corrupts, or cuts-off early, especially when collecting many quickly
*No sound-effect plays when picking-up a Heart Container
*When riding a mine-kart, some stages lack the sound-effects for jumping, and crashing/falling-off the track (notably the Caveman Tribe - Secret Mine stage)
*During any of the "race" stages, Croc doesn't give a "Yay" or "Wahoo" when winning

==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Croc 2 (Windows, PlayStation)/April 30th, 1999}}
*Different legal disclaimer
*Additional character in the initials input screen
*Memory card icon occasionally appears in the top right of the screen
*Differences in the dialogue
*Miscellaneous Notes:
**Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
**Game contains dongle protection: No.
A prototype of Croc 2 for the PlayStation.

==Differences (compared to final)==

*'''Save the Ice Trapped Gobbos:''' a minor dialogue change was made to the Gobbo who activates the lift. In this beta, it says "Gobbo! Make lift work" on the first line. The final corrects this to "Gobbo make lift work!"
*'''The Village Masher:''' for some reason, you start the first part of this stage with 11 crystals immediately upon entering; meaning when you get to the second part (where you actually face the boss itself) you have 61, compared to 50 in the final

==Issues unfixed (same as final)==

*'''Save 30 Gobbo babies:''' if the final coloured-crystal you get in this stage is the blue one (atop some steps, where there is a Gobbo baby trapped inside a Gold-Key cage, with a regular crystal atop a ledge) then the Golden Gobbo challenge-area warp is set to spawn ''inside the cage''. This means you can pickup the Gobbo baby at the same time as entering the warp and end-up carrying the baby ''inside the Golden Gobbo challenge area''! Fortunately, as all you need to do in the area is collect a Gold Key, and then open the cage containing the statue, it won't affect anything if you do enter with it. Though during playtesting it is odd this wasn't picked-up on here, and made it into the final
*'''Up the Waterfall:''' when you enter the Golden Gobbo challenge-area for this stage, turn-around immediately in the area where you start and you'll notice an obvious missing-texture on the wall. This remains unfixed in the final also

==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Croc 2 (Windows, PlayStation)/June 13th, 1999}}
*Compiled approximately 17 days before the retail US build
*Miscellaneous Notes:
**Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
**Game contains dongle protection: No.
**Game contains debugging symbols: N/A
**Dump was originally scrambled: No
File:Croc2 FINAL GoldKeyCageCrystalLedge2.png|(2/4) ...then the warp will appear inside the cage, in very-close proximity to the Gobbo baby...
File:Croc2 FINAL GoldKeyCageCrystalLedg3.png|(3/4) ...which means you can end-up taking it into the secret-area!
File:Croc2 FINAL GoldKeyCageCrystalLedge4.png|(4/4) You can complete it, though, fortunately, without needing to put the baby down!
File:Croc2 FINAL UpTheWaterfall MissingTexture2.png|(2/2) ...turnaround where you start to see a missing-texture
File:Croc2 13Jun1999Beta IceTrappedGobbosDialogue.png|The final corrects the first line of this dialogue to "Gobbo make lift work!"
File:Croc2 13Jun1999Beta VillageMasher61Crystals.png|In the first-part of the Village Masher stage, you get 11 crystals right as you enter the stage, so you'll have 61 at this point! The final corrected this, so you only have 50 by now
==Notes==
{{Tcrf link|Proto:Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return/November 11, 1999 Review}}
* An NTSC-U build and localisation prototype dated a month and a half before the NTSC-U final, but a month and a half after the final NTSC-J build.
* The logo on the title screen differs slightly from the final. The copyright date on the title says "1997-1999" instead of "1997-2000".
* Audio dialogue does not seem to play in-game, despite an earlier build containing English audio dialogue.
* The logo on the title screen differs slightly from the final. The copyright date on the title says "1997-1999" instead of "1997-2000".
* There is some missing audio dialogue.
* Miscellaneous Notes:
** Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
** Game contains dongle protection: No.
** Game contains debugging symbols: No
** Dump was originally scrambled: No
A prototype of The Lion King for the Nintendo SNES.
==Notes==

{{Tcrf link| Proto:The Lion King (SNES)/Version 0.21}}
* This prototype could not be dumped properly on the original SNES EPROM board with a Retrode, which is common for SNES prototypes such as this. An attempt was made to dump the prototype by placing the cart’s EPROMS in an empty MegaDrive EPROM board where a dump was successfully made with a Retrode using the MegaDrive slot. The ROM dump was then deinterweaved with a custom script and then manually pieced together to create the working ROM. There are currently no known errors with this dump.
* Level select can be activated by pressing LEFT + SELECT on the title screen.
* The version specified in the level select reads VERSION: .21. The final is VERSION: .99.
* Title screen differences
**Music starts on title screen instead of the Virgin logo.
**The title screen selector is a paw instead of a sun.
** The options menu has the message written in the sound test (no sound can be played):
*** ROB IS A ROYAL PAIN IN THE BUTT AND KEVIN IS CHOOSING ROB’S SIDE WHICH MEANS NO MORE RIDES!
* The Pridelands - Level 1 differences
** Different object placement
** Blue bug enemy is brown in the prototype.
* Can’t Wait to be King - Level 2 differences
** A few of the pink monkeys near the end of the level do not work properly.
** There are no indicators during the ostrich riding segments.
* The Elephant Graveyard - Level 3 differences
** The hyenas toward the end of the level keep spawning.
* The Stampede - Level 4 differences
** Starts and auto completes in two seconds.
* Simba’s Exile - Level 5 differences
** Small differences in the level layout.
** The hyenas will laugh throw boulders at you during certain parts of the stage. This mechanic was removed from the final game.
** The level is called “Exile” instead of “Simba’s Exile”.
** The hyena sprites at the end of the level are glitched.
** The hyena’s say “We’ll kill ya” instead of “If you ever come back, we’ll kill ya”.
* Hakuna Matata - Level 6 differences
** The level is called “Willow Cascade” instead of “Hakuna Matata”.
** After you climb the waterfall there aren’t a lot of kill bugs when you walk left.
* Simba’s Destiny - Level 7 differences
** Adult Simba’s life and roar energy bars are red.
** The panthers never spawn in this level.
** There is no boulder chase in this level.
** The breakable barriers are buggy.
** The boulder sound can loop indefinitely.
** Mufasa at the end of the stage is colored differently and lacks a sound sample for his dialog.
* Be Prepared - Level 8 differences
** No music plays in this stage.
** However, if you die in this stage, the music from The Pridelands will play instead.
** There are very little objects in this stage.
** The lava geysers have glitchy sprites.
** There is no boss at the end of the stage, you simply exit the level at the end.
* Simba’s Return - Level 9 differences
** The level is called “Hyena Lairs” instead of “Simba’s Return”.
** Contains almost no hyenas save for two near the end of the level.
* Pride Rock - Level 10 differences
** The level is called “Scar” instead of “Pride Rock”.
** The level doesn’t use the proper music for this stage.
** The stage lacks any objects, including Scar.
** The stage does not end and therefore cannot be completed.
* Miscellaneous differences
** The continue screen crashes.
** The Timone Bonus Stages are unfinished and use placeholder tiles for most of them.
** The bug catching bonus stages are named “Kaboom” in the sound test.

A prototype of The Jungle Book for the Sega Mega Drive.
==Notes==

{{Tcrf link| Proto:The Jungle Book (Genesis)}}

* '''General Differences'''
** This prototype was featured at the Winter Consumer Electronic Show (WCES) in 1994, which was open to the public from January 6th to January 9th of that year.
** The ROM is 1Mbyte in size, whereas the final is 2MBytes in size.
** PAL prototype. The game can be forced to play in NTSC mode, however.
** The prototype has a special region lock screen that flashes red when triggered, with a message programmed that reads "MOWGLI SAYS YOU ARE IN THE WRONG COUNTRY SORRY!". In the final, the game formally tells you that the cartridge was manufactured to work in certain regions.
** Upon starting the game, the debugging menu is loaded up for one frame before immediately being cleared for the SEGA logo. There is currently no known way to have the debug menu to stay loaded.
** In the final, there's a spring bounce sound effect that plays when Kaa moves up at the SEGA logo. No sound effect plays in the prototype.
** There is no text only copyright/trademark screen in the prototype. The prototype doesn't play "Intro Tune" either.
** The Virgin Interactive logo is different in the prototype, utilizing a VDP effect while the final uses a static logo.
** The intro cutscene doesn't exist in the prototype.
** The prototype has a special Walt Disney logo screen that features Kaa and Mowgli that doesn't exist in the final.
** The title screen lacks an options/sound test menu, but it does seem that the game has one programmed.
** The title screen offers a level select that allows you to play every level in the game except for stage 2. Stage 2 is not available at all in the prototype.
** The title screen is missing company copyrights in the prototype, instead only saying "DEVELOPED BY EUROCOM WINTER CES DEMO".
** The prototype lacks the storybook level title cards and instead uses a basic card that uses the same background as the title screen instead.
** No storybook cutscenes are present in the prototype, although it appears that development has started on them as there is some related text inside the ROM.
* '''Gameplay Differences'''
** Each level has significant layout differences.
** The HUD is completely different in the prototype. Mowgli's life icon and counter are different and is displayed on the lower left corner of the screen instead of the upper right. The prototype doesn't keep track of the amount of bananas that Mowgli carries and seems to be unlimited in the prototype. The prototype doesn't have a radar. The icon for the gems is different and is located in the lower right hand corner of the screen instead of the upper right hand corner. The timer uses a different icon and is positioned at the top middle of the screen where it's in the bottom middle in the final. Finally, Mowgli's health meter is a long snake in the prototype where it slowly erases part of the icon that's used for his life count.
** The only two songs that seem to be present in the prototype are "Bare Necessities (Rag)" (used for the title screen) and Bare Necessities (for in levels). The Bare Necessities track that's used in each level uses slightly different instrumentation in comparison to the version used in the final game.
** There are no bosses in this version of the game yet.
** Most of the sound effects are not present in the prototype. For instance, Mowgli has no voice samples yet and collecting gems plays a shrill FM sound effect instead.
** The cobras and flying birds have palette issues in the prototype.
** The prototype lacks the warthog enemies that are present in the final. Instead, the prototype features rolling armadillos.
** The goal of each level in the prototype is to collect gem stones. For instance, the first level can only be completed by collecting the gem stones as Bagheera is completely absent from the level in the prototype.
** Hathi, Jr. uses a brown color palette in the prototype, whereas the final uses a slighty grayer palette instead.
** The death screen that involves Mowgli being carried out in a stretcher is absent in the prototype.
** In the prototype, every level ends with a bird carrying Mowgli away.
** The score tally at the end of each level is different in the prototype. In the prototype, the bird that carrys Mowgli away will drop down the individual items that add to your score. The screen this occurs seems to only display properly for the first level, as every level after that is slightly corrupt.
** The artwork for the Elephants in "The Dawn Patrol" are slightly different. For instance, their eyes are open in the prototype whereas they are closed in the final.
** "The River" uses a slightly darker color palette in the final, whereas the prototype uses the same palette that's used in "Jungle By Day".
** In the prototype, the parallax scrolling effect used for the river itself appears to be slightly corrupt.
** In the prototype, the tiles that make up some of the huts in the "The Village" stage can become corrupt.
** "Baloo and the River" lacks Baloo, so the stage cannot be completed.
** "Falling Ruins" uses floating platforms that move left and right. In the final, the platforms are all static, making the stage much easier.
** It appears that "Falling Ruins" and "Jungle By Night" cannot be completed normally.
** The final stage appears to be completely absent.
** This game has no staff/ending credits sequence.
