A final localization prototype disc of the US build of Clockwork Knight for the Sega Saturn. Data track of the disc matches the final version, CDDA Tracks don't.

It was dumped on October 31, 2024, and was then publicly released on December 9th, 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Clockwork Knight’s first release in Japan.
==Notes==
* The build was burned to a Sega Saturn branded CD-R (Common at the time for proto builds), with “CK 3.28” written on the CD, and “CK #7 3.28” written on the spine of the CD case. Nothing was written on the front/inner sleeve. The date of this build appears to be 1995.03.28 (Based on the file dates and the game header), which matches the build date of the final US retail build (also 1995.03.28). This sadly appears to be a completed localisation of the game, bar a few file hash differences in for the CDDA files. This is of course a bit disappointing, but that is the luck of the draw when it comes to Prototypes, especially localization prototypes. I still believe these discs are worth dumping and preserving.

* As noted in the summary, this prototype has been dumped/released in time for the 30th Anniversary of the initial Japanese release of the first Clockwork Knight game (1994.12.09).

* This Prototype build was bought by Tongara in late 2024 from user “Miyazaki’s Slave” on NeoGAF Forums, who originally bought it along with a Playstation Vita/Misc Game Bundle"<ref>[https://www.neogaf.com/threads/playstation-vita-collection-big-lot.1669271/ "Playstation Vita Collection Big Lot"], ''Page where the prototype was originally sold. [https://archive.is/b8bOJ (archive}]''</ref> from another user called “The Pleasure” who has previously made a listing for this Prototype in the "For Sale" area on the same forum in 2021<ref>[https://www.neogaf.com/threads/sega-saturn-development-cdr-clockwork-knights-beta-pre-launch-us-saturn.1622591/ "Sega Saturn Development CDR Clockwork Knights Beta Pre Launch US Saturn"], ''Page where the prototype was originally listed in 2021. [https://archive.is/Chfc8 (archive}]''</ref>.

* “The Pleasure” has told Tongara over PM that he originally bought this dev disc back around the year 2019 at a Flea Market around an hour and a half from San Francisco. The seller had 4 other Saturn dev discs (one of which was apparently Tomb Raider), and the other three were unidentifiable just by looking at them. “The Pleasure” bought just the CK 3.28 disc, as that is all they had enough money for at the time. Sadly, the seller never returned to the Flea Market after that day, so there was never another chance to pick up/potentially identify any other Saturn dev discs, which is a real shame.
** It is possible that the seller at the Flea Market is the same original owner/seller of the "Clockwork Knight 2 (Aug 30, 1995 prototype)"<ref>[https://hiddenpalace.org/Clockwork_Knight_2_(Aug_30,_1995_prototype) "Clockwork Knight 2 (Aug 30, 1995 prototype)"], ''(Hidden Palace Prototype Page)''</ref> who sold that prototype to the private eBay seller Tongara bought it from back in 2017. It was noted at that time that the original owner was a “gentleman in Santa Cruz, Californa, who used to be a developer”, and the seller also bought another unidentifiable disc from the same person. This is of course just speculation!
==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece. I owe you more than one!

* Another big thank you goes to the Sega Saturn hacking master, and someone I personally consider a friend at this point, “Bo” (AKA @memory_fallen) for looking into this build/comparing files. Your kindness/help is always appreciated!

* And a final thank you goes to “Miyazaki’s Slave” for selling me the Prototype in the first place, and also to “The Pleasure” for providing some historcial information about the source of the proto and for being the original seller!
A sample of Clockwork Knight - Pepperouchau's Adventure for the Sega Saturn.
==Notes==
Code is identical to the final Japanese version, as is build date.

CD was possibly given to reviewers and/or retailers to demonstrate the upcoming game to potential buyers.

There is a disc similar to this one for the first Virtua Fighter called "Virtua Fighter Mihonban Hibaihin" with a code "VFDEMO" on the disc, which is seemingly also the final Japanese version of the game (although, it ends after the third fight vs "Sarah", despite all of the games data being on the disc).
==Notes==

==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” (AKA Freelow) for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece.

}}
A late localization prototype of the US version of Clockwork Knight 2 for the Sega Saturn. While this version would later go on to be used for the final PAL version of the game, the final US version would be released later and be instead based on the code for the Japanese exclusive title "Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Fukubukuro", making this version very different to the final US product.
==Notes==
This prototype was bought from a private seller on eBay in late 2017. The seller said they bought it from a "gentleman in Santa Cruz, Californa, who used to be a developer", along with a bunch of other games, including another Saturn production CD-R (No idea what that may be).

The date of this build appears to be 1995.08.30 (Based on the file dates), which would make this build just over 1 month newer than JP release (1995.07.28), just under 2 months before the final PAL version release (1995.10.27) and 5/6 months before the final US version release (1996.01/02).

Just to be clear, this is not simply a conversion of the later dated PAL version, as mentioned above, the file creation dates for this builds burn are 1995.08.30, where as the final PAL version's files have a creation date of 1995.09.08, making this build around 10 days earlier.

This seems to be a 95-98% copy (If not 99-100%), and is possibly the version shown in several Saturn VHS promo tapes around the time.

The game was burned to a blank Sega Saturn branded CD-R (Common at the time for proto builds), and has the following text written on the CD: JM CK2 #3 8.30

An interesting thing to note is, as this was the same version that was later used for the PAL release, it actually contains a "credits" screen after defeating the final boss and watching the ending FMV, unlike the US version of the title, which simple brings you back to the title screen after counting the cards you collected in the game (Which is the same case for Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Fukubukuro). It also includes the "Crazy TV" boss fight at the start of the game, as is the case with the Japanese and PAL versions of Clockwork Knight 2.

==Screenshots==
Above mentioned "Crazy TV" mini-boss that is part of this build as standard, but is not present in the final build of the US version of the game outside of a cheat code to unlock an alternate character "Ginger":
</gallery>

==Videos==
Above mentioned "Credits" screen not present in the final version of the US version of the game:
}}
==Notes==

==Screenshots==
Above mentioned "Crazy TV" mini-boss that is part of this build as standard, but is not present in the final build of the US version of the game outside of a cheat code to unlock an alternate character "Ginger":
A final localization prototype disc of the US build of Clockwork Knight for the Sega Saturn. Data track of the disc matches the final version, CDDA Tracks don't.
It was dumped on October 31, 2024, and was then publicly released on December 9th, 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Clockwork Knight’s first release in Japan.
==Notes==

==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” (AKA Freelow) for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece.

'''''Prime Selection Vol. 1 (プライムセレクションＶｏｌ．１)''''' is an obscure demo disc for the Sega Saturn, released exclusively in Japan. It is seemingly a somewhat little known release, and as such is difficult to come by.

The disc contains 5 video previews for Saturn games and a single level playable demo of the first level of ''Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Daibouken Gekan'' (Clockwork Knight 2).

The demo of ''Clockwork Knight: Pepperouchau no Daibouken Gekan'' has a burn/compile date of 20 days prior to that of the Japanese retail release of the game, and as such there are a few object/enemy differences seen within the demo, among other small differences.

The exact release date of this CD is not known apart from it's year, but file dates on the CD give us a clue. The file burn dates are all "1995.06.15 at 07:48 AM", so it was probably very soon after that date.

This would make sense, as the front cover/manual advertises Clockwork Knight 2's Japanese release date (1995.07.28), so assuming it was released around a month prior to this would put it about there. Sadly, as I have no information on how this disc was released or distributed, I can't give an exact date, but late June or VERY early July 1995 seems about right.
==Notes==
<big>'''''Clockwork Knight 2 Demo Differences'''''</big>
===Title Screen===
* Copyright date text different, and has a black outline, matching other previously discovered pre-release footage of the game.
* "Options" menu is unselectable.

===Kid's Room 1 - Main Path===
* No character support message shown.
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* "Katchin' " enemies have Green pencils and not Red.
* Egg gives a single coin instead of a bronze key.
* "Pierron" enemies are in a formation of only 3 rather than 5, and are spaced out much further, making the 1-UP bonus via the egg impossible to do.
* Another "Perrion" is hiding in the background and jumps out at you.
* Just before the pit of death after the first turn of the level, there is a "Katchin' " enemy. Very easy to fall onto from above.
* After using the wind-up stairs to walk on the climbing frame, an extra "Katchin' " enemy is placed above the first "Tick" enemy, right before the floating platforms you can jump over to.
* Some of the "Katchin' " enemies are closer to the edge than in the final,making getting hit easier.
* There is an additional "Tick" enemy on the final yellow bar of the climbing frame.
* Jumping off of the climbing frame there are only 4 pocket watches at first, but then rest on the way down are the same.
* After the wind-up stairs, there is usually an egg with a bronze key, but this has been replaced with a "Katchin' " enemy.
* After the first wind up platforms with the Invincibility hidden in the egg, there are usually a row of 5 "Pierron", but in this version there are only 3, making the 1-UP bonus via the tree impossible to do.
* The "Katchin' " enemy underneath the second set of wind up platforms does not instantly die when the platforms are wound, but does die when the platforms fall back inwards.
* The egg underneath the second set of wind up platforms gives you a bronze key instead of a silver key.
* After using the second set of wind-up stairs to walk on the second climbing frame, "Katchin' " enemies are noticed to be closer to the edge again, making getting hit easier.
* "Tick" enemy on second yellow bar of climbing frame.
* "Tick" enemy on third yellow bar of climbing frame.
* On the first jump to the left, there are usually 5 pocket watches and 1 coin. There is an additional pocket watch in this version.
* After the wind-up stairs, there is a "Pierron"

===Kid's Room 1 - Lower Path===
* Secret route to room with pencils on the left hand side not accessible.
* Extra "Katchin' " after the one by the bottomless pit when travelling rightward.
* Egg towards the right hand end of lower path usually has Gold Key inside, but it is Silver in this version.

=== Kid's Room 1 - Alernate Path (Via box on floating platforms)===
* "Katchin' " enemies have Green pencils and not Red.
* "Pierron" closer to doorway making it easier to accidentally get hit.
* Extra "Katchin' " enemy on top of box to leave the area.
* Hidden path leading to Le Bon race usually has 5 coins to collect.This remains the same, but a 1-UP is placed at the end of the path.
* Le Bon race not accessible.

===Kid's Room 2 - Demo Screen===
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* Complete lack of "Heatman" enemies.
* 2 "Katchin' " in place of first "Heatman" enemy.
* No playing card.
* First and second "Katchin' "' at the falling toy section closer to the left than usual.
* Graphical glitching as the player turns towards the camera after falling toy section.
==Notes==

==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” (AKA Freelow) for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece.

===Title Screen===
* Copyright date text different, and has a black outline, matching other previously discovered pre-release footage of the game.
* "Options" menu is unselectable.

===Kid's Room 1 - Main Path===

===Kid's Room 1 - Lower Path===
* Secret route to room with pencils on the left hand side not accessible.
* Extra "Katchin' " after the one by the bottomless pit when travelling rightward.
* Egg towards the right hand end of lower path usually has Gold Key inside, but it is Silver in this version.

=== Kid's Room 1 - Alernate Path (Via box on floating platforms)===

===Kid's Room 2 - Demo Screen===
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* Complete lack of "Heatman" enemies.
* 2 "Katchin' " in place of first "Heatman" enemy.
* No playing card.
* First and second "Katchin' "' at the falling toy section closer to the left than usual.
* Graphical glitching as the player turns towards the camera after falling toy section.
==Notes==

==Screenshots==
==Notes==

==Acknowledgments==
* A big thank you to my good friend “Just Mags/MagsThe3rd” (AKA Freelow) for being the middle person in aquiring this prototype, and making sure it got to me from the US to over here in the UK in one piece.

==Notes==

==Screenshots==
Above mentioned "Crazy TV" mini-boss that is part of this build as standard, but is not present in the final build of the US version of the game outside of a cheat code to unlock an alternate character "Ginger":

==Notes==
<big>'''''Clockwork Knight 2 Demo Differences'''''</big>
===Title Screen===
* Copyright date text different, and has a black outline, matching other previously discovered pre-release footage of the game.
* "Options" menu is unselectable.

===Kid's Room 1 - Main Path===

===Kid's Room 1 - Lower Path===
* Secret route to room with pencils on the left hand side not accessible.
* Extra "Katchin' " after the one by the bottomless pit when travelling rightward.
* Egg towards the right hand end of lower path usually has Gold Key inside, but it is Silver in this version.

=== Kid's Room 1 - Alernate Path (Via box on floating platforms)===

===Kid's Room 2 - Demo Screen===
* Loading screen has the text "LOADING" missing.
* Complete lack of "Heatman" enemies.
* 2 "Katchin' " in place of first "Heatman" enemy.
* No playing card.
* First and second "Katchin' "' at the falling toy section closer to the left than usual.
* Graphical glitching as the player turns towards the camera after falling toy section.

A prototype of the unreleased Clockwork Knight: Pengin War for the Sega Saturn. Also know as "Clockwork Knight Puzzle" in some magazine previews, and simply "Clockwork Puzzle" on the CD the prototype came from.

"Pengin War" is not an official name for this game (the game refers to itself simply as "Clockwork Knight Pepperouchau's Adventure"), but has become widely known as such due to the existence of the words "Pengin War" in the prototype version's header. Gameplay is similar to Sega's Pengo, which may suggest "Pengin" is a misspelling of "Penguin".

Date written in pen on the CD says "20/10/95", but as the files burned to the CD are all dated "21/10/95", the earlier date written is most likely down to a simple case of human error.

Despite the above written date on the disc and file burn dates, the header of the game states it was created on "19950620", or "20/06/1995". The game also has a product code labelled "GS-9015", but this was later used for the Japanese release of "Panzer Dragoon" after this game was silently cancelled.

==Notes==
===Title Screen===
* Copyright date text different, and has a black outline, matching other previously discovered pre-release footage of the game.
* "Options" menu is unselectable.

===Kid's Room 1 - Main Path===
