A prototype of WWF Attitude for the PlayStation.
==Notes==
* The second company logo screen is for both Iguana Entertainment and Acclaim. In the final, it's just Acclaim Sports.
* This build was compiled nearly a month prior to the tragic death of Owen Hart and thus, before the dedication to him was added to the game.
* Opening FMV plays instead, which was the opening segment for the show at the time. In the final, it goes to a loading screen and then the title.
* Title screen says "Version" in green below Press Start.
* No music or sound during the title screen, menus, etc.
* Menu options are laid out differently, differences in the options themselves between the prototype and final, including an additional one in the prototype (Bio Room).
* Bio Room isn't functional
* Difference in the loading screens (graphic sometimes does not loaded properly)
* It looks like the entrances attempt to play, but skip out after showing an incomplete, awkward view for a few seconds.
* No player taunts/1-liners pre-match.
* In-match, the crowd is motionless and silent; no player voice effects, there are commentary differences
* Difference in the pause menu, too
* Miscellaneous Notes:
** Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
** Game contains dongle protection: No.
** Game contains debugging symbols: N/A
** Dump was originally scrambled: No
A prototype of Gladius for the PlayStation 2.
==Notes==
*An NTSC demo build dated six months before the final.
*Seems to be a very limited combat demo.
*The game boots straight into gameplay after an intro video.
*The phrase "GLADIUS PRE-RELEASE BATTLE DEMO" is seen on the left of the screen at all times.
*Problem with first cut scene in emulation. On PS2 TEST, it doesn't even boot; but works fine (including the first cut scene) on the PS2 TOOL.
*Miscellaneous Notes:
**Game is emulatable (in PCSX2): Issues (as of March 17, 2021).
**Game contains dongle protection: No.
A prototype of C: The Contra Adventure for the PlayStation.
==Notes==
* Appaloosa logo is different
* Title screen sequence is slightly different, same with associated sound effects
* Lifebar is broken. Many grunt and fodder enemies, as well as minor attacks, in the first stage 1-hit kill the player (whereas they only do some damage in the final).
* Even worse is that the player seems to only have 1 life before a game-over.
* Fortunately, though, the game over system is like the original arcade Contra and Super Contra (continue right where the player last died), instead of every other Contra title (from the start of the stage or a checkpoint). This is extremely interesting, because only the arcade games had this style of Game over.
* You don't lose your powerup weapon after death/game over. This is in no way a compensation for the 1-hit death + game over.
* Ironically, the mines in the 3D stages that are insta-kill in the final instead do very minute damage, taking little off the health bar.
* The player (Ray) has a different voice actor, who sounds both worse and funnier. The spoken lines are different, too.
* One of the mini-bosses in the training mode has a different sound effect.
* Amusingly, the weapon powerup crates from the NES version of Contra are present, as boxes, in the 3D stages. They're empty, however.
* The incoming message sound effect is different from the final
* In the side-view stages, the Crush Missile falcon is purple instead of blue; in the final, purple is reserved for the Grenade Launcher, which is not found in the side-view stages. The Crush Missile projectile sprite is itself the final version's Grenade Launcher projectile sprite.
* The blue falcon now gives the Laser, whereas the Laser is acquired from silver/white falcons in the final.
* Miscellaneous Notes:
** Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
** Game contains dongle protection: No.
** Game contains debugging symbols: N/A
** Dump was originally scrambled: No
A prototype of Contra: Shattered Soldier for the PlayStation 2.
==Notes==
*Small demo with two levels
*The options menu cannot be entered
*After beating the first stage, it takes the player directly to the second (a cut scene plays, followed by returning to the stage select menu in the final). It seems, there is no way to get "Cleared" at "Select mission" screen.
*Completing the second stage takes the player back to the main menu.
*On the results screen, "Lost Remaining Life" in the final is instead "Lost Remaining Player" in the prototype.
*You always start with 9 lives and 0 credits.
*Stage 2 directly begins in the tunnel segment, the Hit Rate system ajusts to this
*Music is slightly different in the tunnel.
*'''Uncertain enemy HP changes''' (may be due to the hitbox of the Charged shot not being aimed properly) UPDATE: Some are confirmed.
**Jetpack enemies during the snowboard section die in one charged shot instead of two (confirmed)
**The worm's core during the snowboard section dies in 4 hits (in the regular game, it dies in two). It might actually be weaker, in fact, instead of stronger.
**Bikers in the tunnel segment die in 1 charged shot, they take two hits in the normal game (confirmed)
**The flying robot in the tunnel segments only shots 3 lasers before charging at you (in the full game, it shots 6)
**The machine gun turret on the train is weaker in the prototype.
*In the first phase of the stage 2 boss doesn't use the shoulder-checking attack on the train. Its second phase takes less damage to defeat.
*Graphic and balance changes seem to be identical to the Japanese release, which include:
**Relevant enemy mobs (IE, Snipers or shielded enemies) are all blue colored instead of white
**Stage 1's final boss has dead, pupil-less eyes
*-The sound effect for the death of the worm mini-boss in stage 1 is different. The sound that plays during the crumbling/shattering sequence in the final instead plays immediately when the boss is defeated in the prototype.
*The mosquitoes near the end of stage 1 appear slightly different, and have a different buzzing sound.
*Mr Heli Robo has a different cannon-charging sound effect.
*The face of the stage boss's second phase has a different colored tongue. It's darker and white/thrush-spotted. Also, the boss is completely still and motionless shortly after dying in the prototype, whereas it continues to writhe in the final.
*Game Over menu has only "End" item.
*There are no plot cutscenes.
*In the stage select, the background design is different. The stage labels are also different (black plate with blue border, and white font in the prototype; silver plate with red border, and red font in the final).
*Different motorcyclist that confronts the player.
*Two EDC errors exist in a large gap between sectors 500 and 50000 where no data exists. Doesn't affect anything.
*Miscellaneous Notes:
**Game is emulatable (in PCSX2): Yes (as of March 17, 2021).
**Game contains dongle protection: No.
A prototype of Gladius for the PlayStation 2.
==Notes==

On hardware, it doesn't even boot.
*Miscellaneous Notes:
**Game is emulatable (in PCSX2): Issues (as of March 17, 2021).
**Game contains dongle protection: No.
Hey,

I was wondering something about the screenshot you uploaded of the title screen to the above Contra Shattered Soldier proto. The letters in the title are completely black, without the filled design that is seen in the final (including fiery "C"). Is this an emulation display issue or likely how the title screen appears in the proto?
Prototectorhttp://hiddenpalace.org/w/index.php?title=Contra:_Legacy_of_War_(Jan_28,_1997_Prototype)&diff=37680Contra: Legacy of War (Jan 28, 1997 Prototype)2021-01-14T16:11:03Z
Prototector:

A review prototype of Contra: Legacy of War for Sega Saturn, dated a month before release. The game was originally released on the PS1 and the Saturn port is mostly the same. Therefore little had to be done with game assets to translate it to the Saturn.

There are allegedly 2 copies of this prototype, though only one is confirmed to exist.
==Notes==
*Some letters, such as A, are missing in text.

Pretty much just porting errors.
==Notes==
*The options menu is greyed and locked out.
*Levels 3 and 4 are inaccessible from the level select menu whereas they should be available from the start in the final; it is unknown if they're present in the data of this preview, though.
A prototype of Contra: Shattered Soldier for the Sony PlayStation 2. It was originally released a few months before the US release, by the scene group 1-Hit Wonderz.
==Notes==
* This beta can be tweaked to run more or less flawlessly. However, when it first leaked, there had been issues reported by many people in getting it to work. For example, the game wouldn't run if a memory card was inserted in slot 1 of the PS2.
*Not confirmed, but there are reports that only the first 5 of the 7 levels in the final release are present.
* Also not confirmed, but the Konami code apparently does not work.
