A prototype of Bud Redhead: The Time Chase for the PC.
This is the one and only playable [test version] of "Bud Redhead: The Time Chase" dating back November 30th, 2002 and was uploaded on gamedev.net on December 1st, 2002 by Bojan Urosevic of Space Ewe Software for people to test the game on multiple computers for data analysis.
Notes
- The loading screen background color is black, instead of blue in the final release.
- The main menu is different than the final release.
- The main menu is silent - no music plays.
- The game's name title is copper/silver, rather than gold/purple/red.
- Bud has a slightly darker skin complexion.
- Bud has a slightly different face.
- Bud is standing with crossed arms and smile; in final, he is with Rachel.
- Rachel is not present in the title screen, unlike the final release.
- The title screen has a lower-textured crescent moon, rather than a full moon.
- Credit screen states that it is a "test version".
- Register screen says "it is only a test version" and to "check back from time to time".
- Level load screen is plain black, instead of green with tiles in the final release.
- Forest 1-1 has a secret bone bridge behind a wall on the right at the very beginning.
- Forest 1-1 Exit Portal has an instant-death spike on the right.
- The Snail biting sound is different than the final release.
- The Bee buzzing sound is different than the final release.
- The Squirrel nut throw sound is different than the final release.
- The Spitting Flower sound is different than the final release.
- The water bubble popping sound is different than the final release.
- Lost treasure due to water or spikes has no warping sound.
- Losing health, Bud says "oh no!" in a high pitch voice, instead of the classic "ouch!".
- There is a constant FPS meter that cannot be turned off in this test version.
- The falling rock is different than the final release.
- When climbing a vine, Bud is silent - no grunt sound.
- After losing all health, Bud goes through a warp, but does not say "oh no!" - is silent.
- Exit Portal sound is different than final release.
- No musical fan-fare upon level completion screen.
- Upon completing all three levels, it says it is a "test version", then sent to main menu.
