- Unreleased US localization, while never referred to as such in-game, it is sometimes referred to as Final Fantasy II: Dark Shadow Over Palakia.
- The game can be played from start to finish, with quite a few NoA mandated changes already in place.
- It doesn't appear as if the game was ready for release however, as the translation is in a very rough state. There is also evidence of further changes that weren't implemented in this version of the game.
- It's cancellation is thought to be due to Squaresoft opting to translate Final Fantasy IV instead of continuing on with a game for the outdated NES.
