A prototype of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance for the NES.
Notes
- US build with incomplete English localisation.
- The copyright screen is slightly different - its layout matches the Japanese version, but it uses the final US text (with the exception that "PONY CANYON" is still referred to as "PONYCANYON", as in the Japanese version).
- The logo on the title screen differs from the one used in both final versions. The game still refers to itself as a "COMPUTER PRODUCT", as per the US version, as opposed to a "VIDEO GAME".
- Many minor text differences during gameplay.
- Characters are often referred to differently, such as "Man" being called "The Man" and "Braccio" taking on the title "Bishop Braccio".
- "Shrines" are referred to as "Temples" in some areas, while the "chapel" in Sokal Keep is called a "shrine". In the Bane Temple, the "altar" was changed to a "podium".
- References to death such as "kill" and "die" were changed to words like "slay" and "expired". In combat, a killed enemy is "killed" while in the retail version they are "slain".
- In combat, a party member in a "dying" state was changed to "hurt", and "dead" party members were changed to "slain".
- References to blood have been removed completely with no replacement.
- The pre-generated characters are fully-leved with a much more powerful inventory than the release versions where they are Level 1 with weak weapons.
- The pre-generated character Felgar was a half-elf Fighter/Magic-User/Cleric. In the released version, not only is he a human Cleric, but the class Fighter/Magic-User/Cleric is not available.
