A preview version of Apocalypse for the Sony PlayStation, dated around two and a half months before the first available final build.
Notes
- Early Neversoft version.
- The look of the game differs from the final.
- A much more generic font is used throughout the game.
- The HUD is very different.
- While only four levels (Prison, Death, Rooftops and War Factory) are selectable, a few other level files are present on the disc.
- An almost fully functioning options menu is present but inaccessible. On the main menu, set the value at 0x8000E258 to 2 to access it.
- The game opens with static images.
- The FMVs are in an unfinished state.
- The game is prone to harsh FPS skips and crashes, likely due to it's unfinished state.
- Enemies and items are placed differently.
- Only one song is present in this build. It is a much longer version of Poe's track "Control", which in the final game is featured in a one minute edit.
Cheat codes
A total of five cheat codes are found in the game's executable. These can be entered in-game on the pause menu whilst holding down L1. A click sound will confirm a successful entry.
All weapons / Infinite ammo | Square, Circle, Up, Down, X, Square | SCUDXS | |
---|---|---|---|
Disable HUD | Square, Up, X | SUX | |
Falls never end | X (x6) | XXXXXX | Though possible in the final game, it seems re-entering the code doesn't deactivate it. |
L2 kills all enemies | Square, Left, Up, Triangle | SLUT | |
Refill health meter | X, Up, Triangle | XTC |
Gameshark codes
To access the non-selectable levels in the game, go to the main menu and select a random level, then pause the game and activate one of the codes. Exit the level and select "Continue" to load the unused level.
City | War Boss | White House | Graveyard | Plague Boss | Sewers | Beast Boss |
