A prototype of F1 Racing Championship for the Sony PlayStation 2.
Notes
- An NTSC-J build dated 7 months and 21 days before retail.
- The company logos appear to be in really low quality and even more strangely are under the label 'F1 Racing Simulation 1999'.
- The introduction FMV appears visually identical to the final but has way less SFX due to the BGM beginning a lot earlier.
- Loading screen is completely different with the visual of a spinning wheel and text changing between NOW LOADING and PLEASE WAIT.
- The title screen uses a Benetton F1 car rather than a Ferrari.
- The game begins with a screen telling you how to save the game in a slightly verbose way, this was later removed.
- Ubisoft's logo (or sometimes both it and the FIA) take the place of Video System in menus and heading text appears to gradually fade in rather than appearing instantly.
- Some menus either have visual differences or are partially broken such as the option screens and track selection among others.
- There are quite a few visible typos around team or driver information, 'Driver Select' originally had its information swapped across both sides and Williams drivers have visible Veltins sponsorship on their profile pictures.
- 'Real' weather option appears to be missing in race options.
- Graphics appear to be more rough and blurry during gameplay while glitching out of the track from crashes is easy to do.
- In-game HUD is less refined here and camera angles were also different with some being placed higher/lower and others either removed or edited such as the cockpit camera.
- It is possible to restart a race even after retiring by entering 'TV View' then pressing start while the retail will grey out 'Restart' and 'Options' to prevent this.
