Notes

  • how_to_run_sushibuild.txt explains how to run the build on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 hardware.
  • It is possible to at least get to the main menu at least in the August 1, 2025 version of Xenia Canary by running apps.engine_GameRelease.xex. The build is on a black screen when running apps.engine_Release.xex, apps.engine_Debug.xex and default.xex
    • Each xex has an associated map and pdb file.

How to run a sushi build:

------------------------------

PC:

----------------------

1. Copy entire sushi build folder to a local drive (it will not run

from a network drive).

2. Double click on Release/engine.exe

PS3:

----------------------

1. Copy entire sushi build folder to local drive (it will not run from a

network drive).

2. Open the PS3 target manager.

3. Make sure a PS3 target has been set up in the target manager. (This is a one

time operation.)

4. Right click the target and connect to it.

5. Once connected, right click the target and choose "Load & Run executable".

6. Browse to the sushi build folder and select "apps.engine.ppu.game_release.self".

Make sure that the check boxes are set like this:

Set file server directory (app_home/): on

Use ELF directory (top): on

Set home directory (~/): on

Use ELF directory (bottom): on

Reset Target: on

Clear TTY streams: on

All other check boxes should be off.

7. Click "open" to run.

Blu-rays / ISOs with multiple executables:

When starting from a disc containing multiple executables the Blu-ray Launcher can be

used to select which of the executables should be launched. Select 'On-disc Packages'

and then install the 'Blu-ray Launcher' package. Now, when you launch the game

it will prompt you which executable (self file) should be used.

Xbox 360:

---------------------------

Two methods exist:

A: Running build from the Xbox 360's harddrive:

1. Copy entire sushi build folder to your Xbox Neighbourhood onto the DEVKIT:

drive. The sushibuild folder can be placed anywhere on this drive.

2. Turn on the Xbox devkit and from the dash board browse to the "apps.engine_Release.xex"

file and hit A on the controller to launch the game. If there is multiple versions

of the same file please double check that you are starting the correct one.

B: Running build from an .iso:

Make sure you have your Xbox 360 connected to your PC through the USB port named

"DVD EMU" on the back of the kit. Run "Game Disc Emulator" from the XDK. Choose the .iso

file in "Media". Click "Emulate". This is the recommended way, since file read+seek will

be accurate.

You _can_ also burn the .iso file to a DVD-disc, but dince your media will always be of poor

quality, compared to the final disc, this is neither accurate nor recommended.
