A European demo build of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin for the PlayStation 2.

Notes

  • European demo dated 1 month and 23 days before the final release.
  • Another boot file is within the files dated 8 days later and matches the NTSC demo.
  • Logo is missing the 'Silent Assassin' sub-heading and copyrights mention the year 2001.
  • Button prompts such as X were originally styled to fit around the games aesthetic.
  • Certain SFX are missing including menu navigation and all of the escape cutscene.
  • 'Extra Movies' is instead a 'Quit' option most likely designed solely for this demo.
  • The credits mention a build 205 and cycle through at a much slower pace.
  • Options to adjust your screen position or turning sensitivity are missing here.
  • Difficulty is given more simplistic labels rather than being themed around assassins.
  • There is a punch mechanic included here where you can knock people unconscious, however it appears to last for only a few seconds before they wake up and was most likely the reason it became hidden in retail builds behind a cheat code (where it instead instantly kills a person upon contact) as a result of being mainly useless during normal gameplay.
  • The HUD appears to not include your compass/travelling direction and when paused or navigating through menus neither the screen will dim or attempts to stop the BGM.
  • 'Delete Save Games' is not included in the pause menu.
  • Elevators are strangely missing from the map legend and therefore leave a blank space.
  • The briefing menu doesn't state how many saves you have left and seemingly includes an inaccessible 'Missions' option in error as it only appears before starting one off.
  • A range of object models either look visually different or have alternate camera angles while inside your inventory and in some cases (especially weapons) use their official names rather than aliases, which was done to prevent potential legal issues.
