A prototype of Silent Hill 2 for the Sony PlayStation 2.

Notes

  • Game is built with debugging symbols.
  • Starts you off at the beginning of the game and ends right before the boss encounter of Pyramid Head in the apartment stairway.
  • Various differences from the final release of Silent Hill 2, mostly revolving around changed sounds and subtitles/text. Some differences include:
    • Various typos on signs/letterings.
    • Slightly rearranged inventory menu.
    • Different "now loading" animations.
    • Different camera angles for certain areas.
    • The removal of certain lines/audio spoken by James.
    • The removal/addition of certain pick-up items.
    • Different attack and enemy sounds.
  • Exploring the file contents of this disc reveals most, if not all, of the game's data is included in this disc. Meaning, with some modding/hacking, you're likely able to explore beyond the artificial boundary set by this prototype to explore many other early areas of the game.
