A prototype of Team Buddies for the PlayStation.
Notes
- An NTSC-J build dated a full seven months before the final.
- The intro cutscene is missing, as is the Midway logo screen.
- Features a much different title screen and different loading screens.
- The main menu uses a different layout, as does the options menu.
- One of the options on the main menu is a tutorial, rather than the usual controls menu.
- When starting a single player game, you're immediately given four levels to choose from rather than being taken to an intermediate menu of gameplay modes.
- Some gamemodes do not appear to work.
- The OST is almost entirely different.
- This prototype only has a couple voicelines, and those voicelines are played more often.
- The textures are blockier and less detailed.
- Your other Buddie icons at the top right change color depending on what they're doing at the moment, rather than just being your team color.
- The Commando only has the ace card on his head, missing his hair, soldier getup, and camo pattern.
- The team select icons are different, they have different faces.
- The pause menu doesn't let you adjust options or controls, it only allows you to continue or exit.
- The item set is the same as World 1's in the final game, with some minor differences.
- 1 crate gets you a shotgun in this build, but an Uzi in the final.
- 2 horizontal crates get you an Uzi in this build, but a bomb in the final.
- Within the game's textures, there are a ton of unused mission/stage names.
- The game is dongle protected - hangs on a red screen on startup (Psygnosis title).
- An .xdelta patch is included.
- Miscellaneous Notes:
- Game is emulatable: Yes (as of April 17, 2021).
- Game contains dongle protection: Patched.
- Game contains debugging symbols: No
- Dump was originally scrambled: No
