A prototype of The Godfather for the Microsoft Xbox.
Notes
- This is a demo that was built for E3 2005.
- Appears to only run properly on a Xbox or on emulators with 128MB of memory. The build will run out of memory and hang after pressing start when ran on retail hardware.
- Built about eight and a half months before the first available final build.
- Different Electronic Arts logo.
- Different Paramount logo.
- Copyright information is displayed under the Godfather splash screen.
- The title screen is very different.
- The attract trailer is the E3 2005 Trailer.
- There is no loading screen. The screen freezes until the level is loaded.
- Only one neighborhood is playable in this build which is Little Italy.
- There were eight additional businesses planned for Little Italy based on the text files but were cut before release. They are "Baldorio's", "O'Reilly's Construction", "Apartment for lease", "St Helen's Bakery", "Calhoun Auto", "Izzy's Pawn Shop", "Philly's Irish Bar", "Hester Street Hotel" and the "Chop Shop". They even have their own designated street locations!
- The Chop Shop actually existed on Eldridge Street and work was done on it to some extent.
- There are audio references for sick people and the notepad in the text files.
- A weapon called "silenced pistol" has audio references in the text files. It was planned for the game but cut for time. It would become the "Hertzstopper" DLC Level 4 Pistol in the Xbox 360 and Don's Edition versions of the game.
- There are HUD "railshooter" references in the text files. On rails gameplay sections for Aldo was planned very early on for the game but was cut before release. There is unused text in the final PC version that even references this!
- There are references for "read", "return", "steal", "loot items", "order", "negotiate" and "intimidate" in the text files. These were additional action prompts for Aldo when looking at newspapers, working with crew and extorting business owners. These were ultimately cut WELL before release.
- It turns out that five neighborhoods were cut before release when looking through the text files. They were Downtown, East Harlem, Queens, the Bronx and Upper West Side. They have ALL their supporting businesses, apartments, banks, subway stations, police stations, hospitals and landmarks listed in the text files as well!
- There are references to additional cut businesses and apartments for Little Italy, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Hell's Kitchen and Midtown in the text files also!
- There are references to "rumors", "list of last 50 rumors", "rumor history" and "50 most recent rumors" in the text files which were all tied to npc dialogue. These were cut hints that the neighborhood npcs would give to Aldo about social clubs, businesses, rackets, extorting, strippers, apartments, respect, the police, the heat system, prize fights, the five families, police chiefs and meetings with the Corleone family.
- There are references to "crackdown level" and "crackdown level increased/decreased" in the text files. This was a cut system. If Aldo committed too many crimes, the police would come after the Corleone family.
- There are references to "favors", "favor requests", "favor objectives", "favor giver" and "favor target" in the files. Favors were planned for the game but was cut for time and brought over to the Blackhand and Don's Edition versions of the game.
- There are references to "contacts", "current target" and "last seen" in the text files. These were part of the Contract Family Hit system and it was more fleshed out at one point. Originally, the hit list targets were in hiding so Aldo had look for people called "snitches" in the neighborhoods, beat them up and then interrogate them to uncover the targets location.
- Moe Greene is referenced in the text files. He was planned to be in the game along with the missions he was tied to but was cut for time and brought over to the Blackhand and Don's Edition versions of the game.
- Something called "Consigliere" is referenced in the text files. This was a cut family rank for Aldo!
- There are references to "enterprises" and "enterprises seized" in the text files. This may be a cut term for taking over a specific set of family businesses.
- There are references to "muggings" in the text files. Aldo could have possibly been able to steal money from npcs walking around the neighborhoods at one point.
- Doctors were internally known as "quacks" according to the text files.
- There are weapons called "pinky rings", "brass knuckles", "garotte rope", "plumber's wrench" and "sledgehammer" in the text files. They were planned to be included in the game very early on but were cut. There is unused text in the final PC version which references these!
- There are UI references for "armor meter" in the text files. Body Armor was planned to be in the game as a purchasable black market sellers item in the neighborhoods that Aldo could obtain to restore his health to max level. There is unused mini map icon text in the final PC version which references this!
- There are UI references for "garage" and "jail" in the text files. These are for the mini map. They were cut before release. There is unused audio in the final game that references the jail!

- There are phone box, bus stop and taxi stop props on the streets. These were actually left unused in the final game!
- There is a subway station visible on the subway tracks where the Level 2 Snub Pistol upgrade can be purchased in the final game. This was removed before release.
- Aldo Trapani, Emilio the Butcher, the Racket Boss, the Tattaglia's, the Cuneo's, Bobby Marcolini and Don Corleone's Assassins all use placeholder voice actors.
