A prototype/preview build of Dead Space 2 for the Xbox 360 from 2010-11-08 (about three weeks before the NTSC release build).
Notes
- Works at least in version builds [detached/a6954ace/Feb 1 2021] and [master@fb5424a9/Sep 14 2023] of Xenia. There is some background audio stuttering/delayed triggering. Some shader and VFX issues can also arise. The build may crash during loading sequences, particularly the first elevator ride. The 2023 Xenia build runs the prototype substantially smoother.
- The preview build starts the player in Chapter 2, after Isaac Clarke (the protagonist) has reclaimed his engineering suit. The player will spawn with two medkits (one medium, one small), a stasis pack, 1,000 credits, and both the traditional Plasma Cutter as well as a free Linegun and one spare upgrade node.
- As a result of the free Linegun, the only available items in the first store you come across are the Javelin Gun, Plasma Ammo, and the Small Medkit.
- Overall the gameplay and story elements are near-identical with the final release build.
- It is possible to save, but not to load, so without modifications, it is necessary to play through the preview build in one sitting.
- The build ends right after completing the game's first major setpiece against an EarthGov gunship and the Tormentor necromorph. After the setpiece is finished, the next section begins to load, and the emulator will freeze due to the missing Chapter 6.
