An early prototype of Far Cry for PC.
Notes
- Originates from this HDD image.
- Predates the final by about two years.
- This build was recovered in a rather unusual way. It was found on a deleted DVT3 partition of a Xbox Development Kit that appears to have had a recovery disc ran on it at some point.
- The data is presented as-is and has not been thoroughly checked to account for any files that may have been overwritten by the DVT4 cache partitions.
- Attempting to launch the game will cause a crash before loading a level for an unknown reason. Copying the executables from the December 2001 prototype in their place seems to work.
- Seems to be from the X-Isle iteration of development. This build notably contains a significantly larger amount of data from X-Isle that was not present in the December 2001 prototype.
- Rename xisle.exe to quake3.exe to fix a crashing issue on modern versions of Windows.
- Expects to run on older Nvidia cards like the E3 2002 demo. The build may have issues rendering the terrain on some cards.
- Contains complete data for the levels holemap, t6, and tdm3vlad. Leftover terrain data also exists for two unknown levels.
- holemap and t6 are able to be played by editing g_StartLevel in engine.ini as well as updating objects.idx to match the format that the build expects.
