A prototype of Speed Punks (also known as Speed Freaks in Europe) for the PlayStation.
Notes
- This build still has dongle protection.
- The title screen is different
- A major overhaul to the game´s interface has started.
- The arcade cabinet menu machine is now on a primitive state (nonexistent on alpha build). *Player selects which game mode wants to play, and the camera zooms off the arcade cabinet into the room where its located.
- All players are in the room, boss players are locked, graphics, animations, and sound effects are different or nonexistent.
- Choosing a player brings the player back to the arcade cabinet where design has now a primitive layout as what came to be on the final build, although its style got revamped as well.
- In game changes are mostly HUD improvements such as boost bar, reflections, fonts, and track aesthetics.
- This build was clearly focused on showcase the new visual art style of the tracks and main menu.
- Many tracks have a way more colorful and sunnier theme, which was refined and toned down towards the final build.
- A “dodge” mechanic was scrapped and early power skid is in place, but its still buggy and just forces drift the kart 90 degrees.
- Boss races are present but not accessible.
