A prototype of Tornado Outbreak for the Nintendo DS.
Notes
An unreleased Nintendo DS prototype of Tornado Outbreak as it was initially developed under the title of "Tornado Alley". Unlike its console counterpart, development was handled primarily by WayForward Technologies, with Loose Cannon Studios serving as co-developers in collaboration with Warner Bros. Games. The port would ultimately end up getting retooled into a video game titled "Galactic Taz Ball".
- The prototype includes two levels: Gym and Chicken Con Carnage.
- In the Gym level, players can adjust the player tornado's size by pressing L or R. A small button can be activated by performing a stomp, which is likely an early iteration of the Stone Stomp ability from the console release.
- The Chicken Con Carnage level offers players to choose between three different tornado sizes: small, medium, and large.
- Both Gym and Chicken Con Carnage utilizes a heavily compressed version of the S4 soundtrack from the level "Double Wide Damage" instead of a unique theme.
- Gameplay is played in an isometric perspective with players controlling the game with the Nintendo DS' stylus. Tapping the touch screen performs a stomp, though this appears to be non-functional outside of the Gym level.
- Primary gameplay is centered around collecting objects as opposed to capturing elemental sprites such as Fire Flyers in the final release of the game.
- Placeholder minigames such as Fire, Water, and Electric were utilized to test the Nintendo DS' touch screen.
