A prototype of Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Microsoft Xbox 360.

Notes

  • Build is 364 days before release.
  • There are left-over files for other maps Multiplayer maps, Campaign and Zombies, no map files however.

Patches

  • There are a couple of patches required to play this build
  • Even though these patches state they remove the whitelist, they do not.
  • They do patch a few Create a Class (CaC) things though.

Details

General:

  • The build is titled: Greenlight. Indicating it was for green-lighting Black Ops II and showcasing the Multiplayer portion to ATVI higher-ups. This is backed up by the build being gutted of "unfinished" maps.
  • Build is mostly stable. The game will crash when playing with bots on Xenia. There are some random glitches within the menus but not often.

Campaign:

  • It is not fully playable. Frontend is the only level. It is from BO1, the only notable change is the FF size being smaller, because Treyarch moved most textures into frontend.ipak.

  • If you boot the game through CoDSP.exe or CoDSP_rd.exe then you will need to set r_drawSkinnedModels to 0. You will crash 11/10.
  • You need a default.bik in your root folder to properly boot up Campaign. I also suggest copying over treyarch.bik to get a proper boot-up movie, however this is not needed.
  • In the "Mission Select" LUI menu, you are presented with a very early version of the class setup. It is very basic and features weapons in set of columns and rows.
  • Frontend does work as intended, though in some cases it can crash or throw script errors.
  • The monitors do not work properly as int_screens.bik is missing from frontend.ff.
  • On default.xex or default_cheats.xex, if you are idle for more than 3-5 minutes the game can crash. This doesn't happen on CoDSP.exe
  • Standing up will crash the game due to missing terminal.ff, however you can just copy over BO1's version to fix it.
  • If you can stand up, the terminal works fine. All commands work on it.
  • There is a bug in the LUI menus where no buttons will show, you can just reload LUI to fix this.
  • A few of the BO1 menus can cause crashes but that's because of missing profile data.
  • The Zombies menus work fine without any issues. You can even use the terminal to unlock Five and Dead Ops Arcade.

  • Yemen (mp_socotra) and Aftermath (mp_la) are the only left-over and playable maps. They are both in early stages too.

  • Multiplayer is fully playable. You can play with bots but you will crash after a couple of minutes if on Xenia.
  • There are early renditions of BO2 Weapons mixed with some BO1 assets/sounds.
  • Perks and Kill-streaks are a mess but showcase some cut/early content.

  1. Shrike - Remote controlled quad rotor drone strapped with explosives.
  2. Eagle Over-Watch - Get personal air support from a Eagle Over-Watch
  3. Satellite Recon (Early Orbital VSAT) - Shows both enemy position and direction on the mini-map. Cannot be shot down.
  4. Assault Helicopter (Likely an early Stealth Chopper) - Call in a Viper Assault Helicopter.
  5. Switchblades - Call in a swarm of lethal mini-drones that search and destroy enemies.
  6. Gunship -
  7. The Guardian turret was named H.P.M. (High Powered Microwave turret) early on.
  8. Hell-Storm Missile was named Cruise Missile
  9. X-47 Pegasus (Early version of Lodestar) - Lase missile targets remotely from the X-47 Pegasus.

Zombies:

  • The only remnants are: menus, a few sound banks, textures, online wad's, game-type and core scripts for the mode found in scriptsrc.clump.
  • To open the Zombies menu, type "zm" into the developer console. LUI must be disabled for it to open (lui_enabled 0).
  • Zombies is not playable, even on an existing map like Yemen. Scripts and animations are missing.

  5. ZSurvival used the playlist_coop_zombie icon for it's playlist. Even if you patch the game to force the mode to load, 9/10 it will freeze on the loading screen due to missing scripts and because you are trying to play a mode on a map that doesn't support it.
