A Half-Life prototype from October 16th, 1998 marked "Net Test 1". It predates the gold release by just 20 days (a build from thirteen days later was released, seemingly by accident, in Italy). Despite this, it has quite a number of differences, even compared to the Net Test 2 build from three days later.
